One 2 One Workshop Days

Lighting is my thing, whether it be simple one light looks, more complicated multi light setups or the very tricky combining natural light with flash or constant lights and even experimenting with gels and quirky modifiers. I think from the strength of the variety I show in my work photographers in the past have enquired about gaining some tips and tricks they can use in their own work. So in response to the enquiries I received I now offer training in my studio where we can cover any subject you need to enhance portraits in your work - lighting, gear, posing, workflows and management, editing or I can lead the day with a plan of some essentials setups and unique ideas.

We can either run the day from my studio and I can source test subjects to sit for us, or I can come to your space with some equipment you might not have used before to see if there’s some new ways I can think of working in the environment you have.

Group Workshops - 1 Light, 2 Lights, 3 Lights MORE LIGHTS!

As well as individual sessions, I have a structured 1 day workshop that takes people from 1 light setups through to crazy over the top setups with 7+ lights, utilising gels and multiple modifiers. The emphasis behind the workshop isn’t to teach setups you can replicate but to open up the ideas of what’s possible and which tools you need for the job to execute the look you want to have as an artist.

The day covers

  • Exploring types of light - Strobes, LED and Speedlights and different types of modifiers to see what each light shaper can do.

  • Building lighting setups from 1 light and showing what adding extra lights achieves

  • Working with Hand Pained Backgrounds and Shallow depth of field looks

  • Blending artificial with natural light

  • Posing and direction tips throughout
